In the field of women's health, one size does not fit all. NeuEve provides personalized care to each customer with several different products.
Two factors determine a suitable product for a woman: age and health condition. The health conditions are those affecting the body's estrogen level and vaginal skin health. These include:
- breastfeeding
- oral birth control pills
- hormonal IUD
- hysterectomy
- cancer therapy
- lichen sclerosus
- Sjogren's syndrome
- polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
- endometriosis
- medications like antidepresants, antihypertensives, and/or antiallergics that cause dryness
Healthy reproductive-aged women (age 15-45) have a fully developed, thick vaginal lining due to high estrogen. BV in these women is just BV. The NeuEve BV Clear may clear it.
However, postmenopausal women or women with above-mentioned health conditions have an atrophied, thin vaginal lining due to low estrogen. BV in these women is not just BV. It is a combination of BV and vaginal atrophy (atrophic vaginitis) of different severities. Due to vaginal atrophy, these women may feel burning if they use BV Clear upfront and even if they can tolerate the strong BV Clear, it does not reverse vaginal atrophy. As a result, these women need to be treated with different products. See the following table for appropriate NeuEve products for women of different ages and health conditions.

Here are examples about how to use the table.
If you are younger than 45 without any health conditions, you do not have vaginal atrophy. You can choose line #1, using BV Clear to start clearing BV. If after using 3 packs of BV Clear, your BV is still not cleared, you can use the advanced formula called BV Clear-Finisher as a second line treatment option.
If you are younger than 45, but you are on birth control pills or on breastfeeding or have an IUD, you may have a mild vaginal atrophy. You may feel burning if you use BV Clear upfront. You should choose line #2, using Gold suppository to start for clearing BV. After using it for one month, your atrophy will be largely relieved and BV cleared. However, if your BV is not cleared, you can use BV Clear as the second line treatment option without experience burning.
If you are over 70 and you have BV symptoms, your vaginal atrophy is very severe. You may be sensitive to the mildest NeuEve balm cream. You can contact us at contact@neueve.com to inquire about the advanced formula called "Sensitive Cream" or "Sensitive Silk suppository" as the starting product. After 2-3 months on the "Sensitive Cream or suppository," your atrophy will be largely relieved and you can switch to the regular NeuEve Balm Cream and Silk for atrophic vaginitis and BV.
In summary, only premenopausal women younger than 45 without any health conditions can use BV Clear directly for clearing BV. Women of all other age groups or women with a health condition should use other NeuEve products like Gold, Silver, Silk or Cream as the starting product for BV clearance. The reason is that these women have a varied degree of vaginal atrophy and can be sensitive to a stronger formula like BV Clear. The atrophy-relieving products can relieve their vaginal atrophy and BV without causing intolerance.
