I have recurrent BV. Please help me choose a right product. Good for all ages

The right product depends on your age and health condition.

In addition to age, certain health conditions may cause vaginal atrophy or tissue sensitivity. These include:

  • Breastfeeding
  • Oral birth control pills
  • Hormonal IUDs
  • Hysterectomy
  • Cancer therapy
  • Lichen sclerosus
  • Autoimmune diseases like Sjogren's syndrome, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and Guillain-Barré syndrome
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
  • Endometriosis
  • Medications such as antidepressants, antihypertensives, or antiallergics that cause dryness

Exceptions:
a. If you are a minor (under 18), please consult your pediatrician or have your parent contact us.
b. If you are pregnant, please consult an OB/GYN for BV care.
c. If you have active cancer, please read this article: Can NeuEve be used by women with active breast cancer?

Age-Based Recommendations:

1. If you are 18-40 (premenopausal):

  • Healthy without listed health conditions: BV Clear is formulated for you. Follow instructions detailed in this article: How do I use the BV Clear to clear BV?
  • With a listed health condition: Follow the recommendations for women aged 41-50, as these conditions increase vaginal sensitivity.

2. If you are 41-50 (perimenopausal) without health conditions, or 18-40 with a listed health condition:

a. For the first 12 days, use 1 pack of NeuEve Gold (4 suppositories), inserting 1 suppository every 3 days.
b. If by day 12 your BV is cleared, continue using NeuEve Gold for maintenance (1 suppository per week, skipping your menstrual week).
c. If your BV is not cleared by day 12, continue using NeuEve Gold every 3 days until it clears. If BV persists after 3 packs, switch to BV Clear and follow the suggestions for ages 18-40.

3. If you are 51-55 (postmenopausal) without health conditions, or 41-50 with a listed health condition:

a. For the first 12 days, use 1 pack of NeuEve Silver (6 suppositories), inserting 1 suppository every other day.
b. If by day 12 your BV is cleared, switch to NeuEve Gold for maintenance, using 1 suppository per week.
c. If your BV is not cleared, follow the recommendations for ages 46-50.

4. If you are 56-70 without health conditions, or 51-55 with a listed health condition:

a. For ages 56-60, use 1 pack; 61-65, use 2 packs; 66-70, use 3 packs of NeuEve Silk (8 suppositories per pack), inserting 1 suppository every other day.
b. After that, move up to NeuEve Silver and follow the recommendations for ages 51-55.

5. If you are over 70, or between 55-70 with a listed health condition:

Follow the detailed guidance in this article: I am over 70 and have dryness, odor, pain, and chronic recurrent UTIs. Which product is right for me?

Maintenance After BV is Cleared

Once your BV is cleared, regular maintenance is important to prevent recurrence. Use the same product that cleared your BV (Silk, Silver, Gold, or BV Clear) as follows:

  • Silk: Twice a week
  • Silver: Once every 5 days
  • Gold/BV Clear: Once a week (skip your menstrual week)

If you remain BV-free for 3 months, you may experience long-term relief.
If your BV is not cleared after the initial treatment (around a 10% chance), continue using the same NeuEve formula for one more month. If BV persists, move up to a stronger formula (e.g., from Silk to Silver, Silver to Gold, or Gold to BV Clear) and use it once every 2 days. If BV persists after 3 packs of NeuEve Gold or BV Clear (less than 1% chance), please contact us for further assistance.
